La Route des Lagons

                        Polynesia in another way...

Going to...

... Polynesia

... Society islands

La Route des Lagons is based in Raiatea but makes departures from other islands and can organise a personalised cruise for you.

Raiatea is one of the Leeward Islands, in the Society archipelago, which are high islands. They are surrounded by a lagoon and a coral barrier, with famous "motu", small islands covered with coconut trees.

Raiatea the "Sacred Island" shares her marvellous lagoon with her sister Tahaa, the "Vanilla Island".

Leeward Islands have numerous attractions :

  • very rich nature in the lagoons as well as onshore,

  • authentic and alive traditions,

  • archeological remains (marae),

  • artisanal fishing and agriculture : vanilla plantations, palm tree culture, market gardening...

  • pearl farms,

  • local hand : pearl jewels, pareos, poteries...

Waters are very calm and clear in lagoons, so you can observe very easily aquatic life (multicoloured fishes, raies, turtles, coral...), sometimes in less than one meter deep.

Society archipelago is also a leaving and migrating place for numerous cetaceans.

By sailing, you will have amazing points of view on landscapes,

while reaching preserved and authentic places,

on lagoons as well as on islands.
